We're going electric!
Very exiting to have two of these MG electric car chargers up and running at the Cellar Door!
This is something that we have been working on behind the scenes for a little while now, and we are happy to be opening these up to the public to book in and use while you are enjoying a wine tasting at our Cellar Door or staying in our Chalets.
These are type 2 plugs and run 11 killowatts of power
You MUST book in to use them to ensure that there is only two cars at a time.
We will open these from 9am - 4:30pm Monday through to Friday. Weekends by appointment only. It will be $5 per hour to charge your car.
Please contact us at accommodation@okurukuru.co.nz or
+64 21 025 47144 to book in, we look forward to hosting you!
Harvest 2023
New Wine Release, 2022
Introducing our new Vineyard Blend 2019 and Okurukuru Rose 2022 🌿
The Vineyard Blend shows cassis, dark plum, dried herb and roasted nut characters on the nose. It's succulent and plump on the palate, delivering generous mouthfeel and chalky tannins leading to a lengthy structured finish. Our Okurukuru Rose 2022 displays golden apple, grapefruit, orange peel and subtle spice aromas, gently lifted on the nose leading to a nicely rounded palate.
Lake, 2021
Over the past year, our groundsman Danny has completed an ambitious project in certain areas around our man-made lake. The plants displayed in this image are: birds of paradise, canna lilies, miniature flax, grasses and belladonna lilies. There are also a variety of native plants on the bank area.

Harvest, 2020
Grapes, 2018
We have tried various grape varieties since we started. Initially we planted Pinot noir, Pinot gris, Chardonnay, and a selection from a local hobby grower identified as Pinotage. Unfortunately only the Pinotage identified being hardy enough for our exposure. In more recent times we are trialing some small planting of Gewürztraminer and Albarino.
Interestingly we had the "Pinotage" DNA tested and it would appear it is Plantet, a Siebel selection bred for cold conditions. While we are not cold the thick hairy leaves and very tight bunches explains why it does so well in our very exposed situation.
