Providing one of the most tranquil places to stay in Taranaki

 

A quick 10-kilometre drive into New Plymouth, Okurukuru is situated on Taranaki’s spectacular coastline, overlooking Paratutu rock and the Sugarloaf Islands on one side with a clear sight of our majestic Mount Taranaki on the other. 

 

Our Chalets include two luxury suites and six modern studio apartments with our newly designed disable unit. Built by Chris Bell Construction and opened in June 2020, the chalets are nestled into the hill above the coast, surrounded by vines and farmland. Each chalet has a balcony to watch the waves roll in with the complementary bottle of Okurukuru wine waiting at check-in. The chalets boast all the mod cons such as Wi-Fi and smart Tvs, they have been carefully designed to maximise the stunning setting; there are even sea views from the huge showers.

  Luxury Suites

Our luxury suites include a master bedroom with a super king bed (can be split into two king singles), and an en-suite with a double shower. Upstairs contains the kitchen, additional bathroom and a spacious open plan lounge. There are stunning views over the ocean and out to New Plymouth.

We have two Luxury suites which are perfect for your wedding night stay after partying up at the restaurant, we can do early check ins and late check outs for a small extra fee for these special days as well.

An extra single fold out bed may also be added for a third guest (for a small extra fee) or we have a port-a-cot which we are able to put into your chalet. 

​Studio Chalets

 

Shared between two unique self-contained dwellings, the six chalet studio Chalets are situated in the heart of our lower vineyard. Chalet 3 has been designed with the disabled guest in mind with lowered benches and wheelchair access to and around the room.

 

Our petite size studio’s feature all of the modern comforts with a kitchenette, en-suite, Smart TVs,  a private balcony outside your room and plenty of parking space. Our studio apartments have been designed to comfortably accommodate two adults.

 

The bedroom features a king double bed that can be split into two king singles. Our studio Chalets are the perfect destination for a getaway with your partner, family, a group of friends, or business associates.

Jessicca, 2020: It’s simply breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. With the panoramic Seaview overlooking the ever green winery it’s just really something magical. The sound of the sea is calming and it’s really quiet. Not sure if that’s because of the fine dining restaurant being closed, either way it’s just incredible. The actual chalet is exactly how it is in the photos, but it doesn’t capture the real beauty of just being there. The layout is perfect and comfortable too. I loved the touch of the complimentary wine from their winery and breakfast too. Lovely hosts to chat with and easy to contact. We are locals and will be back for sure.

Benjamin, 2016: “The first thing anyone would say upon reaching is "WOW!". This is a fantastic chalet that anyone travelling to or passing by New Plymouth should not pass up. The chalet is located within the private premise of Okurukuru Vineyards and it is overlooking the fantastic Tasman Sea. I believe it is also possible to see Mount Taranaki but our time there was cloudy, raining and way too short to have an opportunity to explore. Rae, the property manager was extremely kind and thoughtful on making sure our stay was as comfortable as possible with her preparation prior and even updating us on the weather on the day of our arrival! All amenities for a comforting stay is provided for (including breakfast!) and I really did not want to leave such a wonderful place where serenity and a scenic view can be found. Will try to book both chalets next time we visit with our families and for a much longer time to truly enjoy this hidden exotic gem in New Plymouth!”
